Turkey announced its citizenship by investment programme in 2016. It grants residency, citizenship and a second passport to applicants investing either in real estate or a bank deposit. The real estate route is particularly attractive for investors. This requires a property purchase of a minimum of $250,000 + fees, making Turkey one of the lowest cost citizenship by investment programmes on the market. The real estate investment amount was originally set at $1 million but was drastically reduced in September 2018.


Turkey holds some good global connections. They have a E-2 Visa treaty with the USA, which means Turkish citizens are eligible to apply for US residency, through the E-2 Visa programme


Citizenship of Turkey is granted after 3-6 months following the applicant’s investment. The applicant must hold the investment for a minimum of 3 years.

Your application can cover citizenship not just for you, but also for the wife/husband, and any children under the age of 18


There are no restrictions on nationalities who can apply for citizenship – you can be from any country


You can purchase more than one property, so long as the total investment exceeds the minimum threshold of $250,000


The purchase of other types of real estate (for example, commercial property) are also eligible in the scheme


You will be granted temporary residency whilst your citizenship application is being processed

Things to Know About the Turkish Citizenship Application Process

Without any country restraint, anyone who purchase at least 250.000 USD worth of real estate can become a Turkish citizen

Not only housing but you can also earn the right to be a Turkish citizen by purchasing different kinds of real estate such as an office, a store or an estate.

Turkish citizenship can be earned through the purchase of not just one specific real estate worth of 250.000 USD, but also multiple properties that make up at least the same amount when combined.

Turkish citizenship process, finalizes within 30 days from the day of application. Furthermore, temporary residence permit is given to the real estate purchaser and their family members.

Along with the real estate purchaser, their spouse and kids under the age of 18 also get the right to be a Turkish citizen. For children past the age of 18, they are not given citizenship unless they are disabled and in need of constant care.
